| Itou Kentarou rant : sharing and request |
[Jul. 4th, 2008|09:33 am] |
Ever since I watched eps 6 of Junjou Romantica, I'm addicted to his voice, the person giving life to Kamijou Hiroki. I don't think I would like this anime if not for his incredible performance which makes this character believable. Here's some Junjou Egoist drama from the romantica series (the tracks that are currently trapped on my winamp playlist) - Junjou Egoist from Romantica 3 : http://www.mediafire.com/?zxctjmbgs1b
- Junjou Egoist from Romantica 4: http://www.mediafire.com/?52nj91wnl30 Not related, but as good : Ikoku Irokoi Romantan 2 : http://www.mediafire.com/?bdrcdymwwwn
In the mean time, there are two dramas I'm looking for from him which is quite old so I'll be grateful if anyone has these. - Otona to Kodomo kyoukaisen series - Konna Joushi ni damasarete series Thank you in advance !! And if anyone have any recommendation, do let me know ^___^ |

Surgery next Wednesday. Six days from now...
I'm trying to get my license before then. Which means I'm driving my mom everywhere. =D
But really... six days...
But I'm not afraid! What's the point in being afraid of something which is inevitable? The only thing to do is to face it head-on! *firm nod*
But then six weeks in casts... and the options of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes. T_T
I shall have to make the most of it. *fist-pump* |

Tuesday, I discovered that I've had a copy of the Sky Stage broadcast of Hoshikage / Joyful!! II ... probably for a few months at least. *head->desk* This is what happens when life sucks and you get apathetic -- you miss the important things.
Man of Stardust Snow Troupe, 2007 - Chunichi Theater
[ TakaWiki ] [ Takarazuka Precious ]
Stars: Mizu Natsuki & Shirahane Yuri
The debut show of my current favorite top combi. Mizu I've loved madly for... three years now. Tonami grew on me as I watched her with Wataru, though my first impression of her wasn't that great (I love Nagasaki to bits, but every repeat watching makes me want to strangle her character). And it's a Snow Troupe Nihonmono! Originally staring Migiwa Natsuko!! And.... Shinsengumi!!!♥♥♥ I've fallen into the trap of Shinsengumi love through exposure to Rurouni Kenshin at an impressionable age and the watching of too many period dramas on TV when it was too cold out to leave my apartment and kotatsu.
So, with all that said I guess you know what I'm going to say about this show. LOVED. IT.
( Summary: )
What I Thought:
Loved it. But I go weak in the knees for Shinsengumi haori♥ Still, the combination of Shinsengumi uniforms and the many geisha and maiko in flashy and gorgeous kimono made this a show complete with lovely costumes. I liked all of the music, including the musumeyaku songs -- strong singers in Yamashina Ai, Haruka Midori, etc. I liked that there were so many minor character storylines that all got a part to play. Mirai Yuuki's Yamazaki was love, as was Ouki Kaname's Katsura and Ayabuki Mao's Hijikata. Just... everyone was wonderful. It was Shinsengumi legends portrayed at their most romantic.
Yukigumi should do many, many, many more Edo- and Meiji-Era Nihonmono with Mizu and Tonami and Yumiko at the helm. |

| Fancy Dance (Tokyo Raku) |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|07:13 pm] |
I just wanted to put in a word here (one I've been meaning to put in for a few months and have been too lazy to, so apologies if it's all a little vague now) about the Tokyo senshuuraku.
I saw Fancy Dance live a couple of times, and so I was a little disappointed in some of the camera angle choices on the commercial DVD (although, don't get me wrong, I adore the DVD). Also, I couldn't wait for Sky Stage to broadcast the revue because of the scenes with replaced music--I wanted to experience the original again.
But I was hugely disappointed. I've never seen a raku where everyone seemed so drained; I felt like I was watching them go through the motions (painfully!) as they counted down the seconds until they could sleep for 48 hours straight. I almost felt embarrassed for them, watching it. Without the passion of the actors, it just becomes glaringly obnoxious and stilted choreography. Also, the music sounded shriller, and I think they rearranged some of it. :/
On the other hand, they did put more wide-angle shots during Tango Noir.... I could watch Masaki and Kiriyan dancing in synch once more<3
(Original thoughts on the live performance and the DVD.) |

Graphic novels:
Various: Graphic Classics: Adventure Classics.
Various: Project Romantica: An Anthology Dedicated to Love and Love Stuff (Not to be confused with Junjo Romantica, although I keep mixing the titles up in my head. It's an anthology of more-or-less romance-themed shorts by a variety of cartoonists 'scuse me, artists (in my head, "cartoonist" is a good thing, but someone's bound to get tetchy). Nothing blew me away, but I particularly liked the pieces by Scott Morse, Rian Hughes, and Alberto Ruiz for their moody, stunning art--I really love Hughes' retro style thing, I've got to keep an eye out for work by him--and Debbie Huey's and Joel Priddy's for the clever, cartoony humor. It's a strong anthology, without a single bad piece. Plus, it has an entry from Mizuno Junko, her usual bizarre-but-compelling fare).
Jason: The Left Bank Gang (Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, James Joyce and F. Scott Fitzgerald (and Zelda) as struggling cartoonists who decide to rob a gambling den in 1920's Paris. As per Jason's usual style, everybody is an animal of some kind. You cannot dream up crack this good on your own).
Busiek, Kurt, author, David Wenzel, artist: The Wizard's Tale (cute, but for the love of god, if text is meant to be functional and not decorative, don't use those fucking fancy fonts! This took me much longer to read than it should have because of the shmancey, hard-to-read decorative font; I almost gave up entirely). |

| HOLY CRAP!! *0* AMAZING VAMPIRE KNIGHT NEWS!! |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|03:13 am] |
OMG
AMAZING NEWS, EVERYBODY!!
I still have to get the magazine with the interview (because it's one of those "so great I can't believe it/am afraid it's a dream" types of things, though I'm pretty sure the info is accurate).
EDIT: OKAY, GUYS, IT'S CONFIRMED!! *got to read the interview in the magazine*
HOLY CRAP, YEAH~~! *DANCES*
In a recent interview in the magazine ぱふ (it's a japanese magazine that does interviews with mangaka etc, and this was in the issue that came out this week), they interviewed Hino-sensei, and asked the inevitable question, which I translated for you below...:
"So, you've said before that you started Vampire Knight with the ending already all set in your mind. Could you tell us how close to the end the story is?"
And she replied:
"We're roughly near the end of the first part of the series, and I planned two parts."
YEAH BABY, BEST NEWS THIS YEAR. *0*
I was so afraid the series would end really soon.... OMG OMG OMG OMG *screams herself hoarse*
I'm crossing my fingers so much. *0* Though I'm sure it will be utterly awesome.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT AHEAD WAH~!
The monthly speed of the manga would make me worry a bit that the anime would go fillery at one point or another, but right now I'm too overjoyed to possibly worry about such matters. XD XD
*HAPPY DANCE*
( Under the cut, a few other interesting tidbits from the interview. )

| Wip Kaname pic + wip trio pic |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|02:46 am] |
No minds in the gutter, he's just showering. ;D
I might redraw the face, it came out crappy. *was just doodling for fun*
And have another wip:

Yuuki-sama and her bitches. ;-;Err, they'll have clothes when I'm done drawing. *rotfl* I just sketch them naked before adding clothes, because that way the bodies are better. But it's quick sketch with meh anatomy since the nakedness won't be showing, and as such I didn't need to actually draw it well. XD It's just so they have nice figures once I add the clothes. :D Yuuki is the only one I was done adding stuff on. :)
Possibly vaguely manga spoilery below this line, though not much: Poor Kaname. I wanted to reflect the way things have been feeling weird, by having the possessive gesture of her grabbing his face that way, while with Zero she's more open and is instead letting him lick blood off her hand while holding her hand. I should have made it long haired version...
I'm still a bit shocked by events of chapter 41, though I was re-reading early volumes today and realized I had forgotten that Yuuki had threatened Zero with the artemis once and with a freaking gun another time (the bloody rose no less) in volume 1 or 2, even telling him she was going to shoot him if he didn't obey and not leave them. *rotfl*
So, uhm, I felt less bad. XD XD It's not as bad if she's prone to violence in general, as long as she does so towards them both and not just one. *rotfl* The way my mind works is strange... O_o
XD *lol* |

| Friend a random Fan |
[Jul. 2nd, 2008|04:46 pm] |
It seems as though over time western Takarazuka fandom has developed this bizarre and unfounded reputation for being "closed" and "elitist" and probably any other number of things. I say that there are precious few enough of us English-speaking/Foreigner Takarazuka fans that talking to another with whom you connect is wonderful. The more open the better
At times I wonder if many of us fans come across as clique-ish because we have latched onto each other, comment on each others posts, work on the same projects and websites, belong to clubs, live in the same country.... and any number of things. A few years ago, I was a quiet lurker - like many of you here. I tended to post and comment seldomly.... but eventually wound up working up the courage to ask someone whose posts I commented on frequently if she minded that I friend her. Who would have thought I'd wind up finding so many wonderful friends and fellow Takarazuka fans via this person? And that asking her was the catalyst for it all?
So here I am, posting an entry encouraging people to just say "here I am! Friend me! " or "I'd love to learn more" or whatever else comes to mind.... to not only me, but also the 485 other members of this community.
Comment here, write your own post, read the comments, do whatever you feel like... but feel free to find a random Takarazuka fan friend! In a world of friends-cuts, why not some friends-adds? |
